Tips before you get started

TV programmes like Who Do You Think You Are and Heir Hunters prove the popularity of genealogy/family history. I love watching these programmes, my only bugbear is they do have a tendancy to make it look easy.  Sometimes it is but often it is just slow, painstaking and frustrating. However it is by far and away my favourite pastime.

With the advent of the internet it is so much easier to carry out research and there are some very useful websites available.  Listed are a few below that might help you think about how to structure starting your search and keeping your records on track.
