Medals of Moses Knighton Jnr, Pte 1706 Sherwood Rangers1507

These WW1 Medals belonged to Moses Knighton Junior, my maternal Grandad. Joining the army in 1914 at the age of 28, he left behind his life as a coal miner. By the time he left for Egypt and the Balkans, he had a young family: Dorothy, born in 1913 and Alfred, born in 1915.

Shortly after returning home at the end of the war, he separated from his wife, Emma. At some point between 1920 – 1923, he met my Grandma Sarah. The rest as they say is history and the reason I am here.
